Cheap Strollers

Here we look at where to find cheap strollers. Having a child isn't expensive - it's all the equipment that's needed that gets costly.

Strollers can cost hundreds, especially if you are looking for a double, triplet stroller or travel system. There are so many different types of stroller that you can buy that you need to be careful that it fits both your lifestyle and budget.

Where to buy cheap strollers

If you have decided what stroller would suit your lifestyle compare prices online as they are often considerably cheaper that a store. However, occasionally stores have their own promotions and online sales so always check their latest offers.

The cheapest strollers are around $50. They would not suit rough terrains or exercise trips, and may not have the gadgets such as one-handed folding systems or parent trays, but they're adequate for short trips around the shops or going down to the park.

If you buy a stroller second hand, try it out first. Strollers that work well tend to get used a lot and it may be on it's last legs. Check for cracked wheels, difficult to use brakes, and condition of the seat. Buying second hand can be fantastic, but if you are unlucky, it can also be a waste of money as you sometimes need to buy the same item again just a few months later. If you expect to use your stroller alot, then buying new can be a good investment.

You can buy from an online auction but be sure to ask questions before you bid to check that you will be getting quality for your money. Generally you do, and this is often one of the cheapest ways to buy.

Local ads in the paper often have strollers for sale and it's well worth taking the time to look through the ads, and then going to have a look. It gives you the opportunity to check the stroller over and to practice folding it, carrying it, steering it and trying out the brakes.

Cheap strollers that don't work will simply be a waste of your money. Minimise the risk by going for a well-known brand, a relatively unused one and one that comes with recommendations.
