Toddler Sleigh Bed

A toddler sleigh bed is a classic item for furniture and will fit into any decor scheme. Choosing a wooden sleigh bed with soft bedding will make a very peaceful den to sleep in.

A sleigh bed creates a very different atmosphere to a themed toddler bed. Depending on what your toddler likes, your toddler may prefer to have a character bed so that he can create his own character world and be part of it, or he may prefer to have a softer, quieter theme for his bedroom and in this case, a sleigh bed is likely to be the preferred choice.

Sleigh beds often have curved and scrolled head and foot boards and generally have safety side rails (though they are often too far up the bed, so if you have a particularly wriggly toddler, then the sides may not be adequate to stop him rolling out of bed!). They are elegant and have a luxurious feel to them.

They can also make the transition from a cot to a bed more straightforward for some children because with the wooden slats, they look similar to a cot yet give more freedom. It's a good halfway bed between a cot and a standard twin-sized bed.

Toddler sleigh beds can be made from plastic but are more generally wooden and come in a variety of finishes (cherry, walnut, natural and white are easily found). Some also have a handy drawer underneath, perfect for extra storage.

They usually use a standard crib mattress and can be inexpensive - from around $70 for a solid wooden bed.
