Toddler Table and Chairs

There are such cute toddler table and chairs available and here check out what you need to consider to make the right choice. As with most toddler furniture, there are so many styles and colors and your toddler's ideas can be included in your choice.

Toddlers are at an age where they enjoy some independence. They are exploring their world and what they can do in it on their own. Sitting down on their own chair and at their own table is exciting for them. And hey, it's even the right size! No need to get in a highchair, no need for extra cushions and their arms can reach things on the table! Toddlers love to have their own area and this can be in their bedroom and/or downstairs too.

Toddler Table and Chairs: what to consider

You may want to match the table and chairs with a particular theme or colour. There is a very wide choice available, and they are very good valuable at around $50 and cheaper too. We've seen lovely jungle themed table and chairs, pink and white flowers sets, football sets, wooden and plastic sets.

You can either buy stools or chairs with a backrest. We prefered the chairs with the back rests as they are comfortable to relax in. However, space wise it may be more practical to get stools so that you can more easily tuck them under the table.

Wooden furniture looks very classic and can be more sturdy than the plastic varieties. However, plastic can be easier to clean though if the wood is varnished then wiping up pen or paint won't be a problem. Having a vinyl table cloth can be useful to have to cover the table for any messy play, such as painting or playing with modeling clay.

Be careful about the shape of the table - sharp corners can be dangerous and a round table with bevelled edges are more child friendly.

However, to choose the shape you need to decide where the table will be going. If your table is going in the corner of a room then a square or rectangular table might be convenient. If it is going in the centre of the room then a round one might be best. Plan first, ask for your toddler to have some input, then look to buy.

Toddlers love their independence and having their own toddler and table chairs as well as other furniture which actually is the right size. They're cheap and easily available online or in store. Watching your little toddler "writing" a shopping list or drawing his masterpiece at his own table is a lovely memory to build.
