Your toddler's sleep is likely to be disrupted so you need to keep to the bedtime routine as much as possible. Ask your host how dark will your toddler's room be and if necessary bring your blackout curtains with you so that you can easily pin them up.When you are traveling with a toddler away from home you need to know the set up of your accommodation. Ideally you want them to sleep downstairs so that there is no risk of falling down the stairs in the middle of the night. Or ideally your hosts might have a stair gate. If your toddler is sleeping in your host's guest bed then be sure to bring a mattress protector with you! Accidents in someone else's bed and bedding can be embarrassing to deal with. Or to avoid that risk, bring an inflatable and portable toddler bed and/or a toddler sleeping bag. If your bedtime routine goes haywire on the first night, then try again the next night. If your routine goes completely out of the window for the whole time you are away, then return to the routine when you get home. Expect it to take about a week to get your toddler back into the routine he had before going away. Going away usually takes days to prepare, then days to get back to normal again. Above all else, have a good time!
